6.1 Congenital Heart Disease Awareness Survey
It is vital to know about society’s current view on Congenital Heart Disease Campaign so that a more proper and engaging campaign can be held regarding this issue. The survey was also done ensure all information needed by the public in order to know more about the disease are noted down and can be carried out during the campaign. The main aim for the execution of the survey is to find out whether the public know the existence of the disease and to define which media are best to be used to promote this campaign.The survey was done on 49 Malaysians online with ages ranging from 19 to 56 years old. Before answering the question, the subjects were asked to read the description about Congenital Heart Disease:
It is estimated that at least 5,000 babies born in Malaysia could be at risk of suffering from Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) yearly. CHD babies are born with either a hole or other imperfections in their hearts making them having difficulties in breathing normallyHere are the 10 questions asked to the 49 Malaysians along with the statistics and reviews:
1. Before you read the above description about Congenital Heart Disease, do you really know what the disease is all about?
Graph 6.1.1 shows that 18 out of all the person surveyed have no clue at all about what the CHD is about before they read the description of the heart defect. Only 8 person tested know about the meaning of the disease while 23 more have some idea about the disease but not entirely understand about it. Fortunately, none of them misunderstood the name of the disease described with some other name.
2. Kindly state your age:
Graph 6.1.2 reveals the age of the test subjects. 30 of them are categorized as young adults aged between 18 to 22 years old which are still in colleges, 16 person are out of college and 3 people above the age of 40.
3. What is your status?
As you can see on Diagram 6.1.3, major status of the test subject are not married yet.
4. Do you know any children or person whom you are related to is suffering from this type of disease?
When they were asked if they knew anyone who has CHD, only 8 of them said ‘yes’. The current age of the person who has CHD was also asked to those who answered ‘yes’. These are their answers:

5. Do you think the information about Congenital Heart Disease is sufficient enough in Malaysia?
Graph 6.1.6 displays the percentage of people who thinks whether CHD information are being publicized sufficiently in Malaysia. 45 of them are unsatisfied with the sufficiency of CHD information in this country.
6. If you have known or heard about the disease, where have you heard about it?
The test subjects were also asked if they had heard about the disease through other media. Most of them had already heard about CHD from television, either upon hearing the news, documentaries and more. The most least media they had heard from was through exhibitions and radio commercials. This means the campaign was less advertised thorugh these media. There were some people who found out about CHD form other sources such as:
- friends
- haven't heard before

- stories from friends who have it or their siblings n such
- from you
7. Are you aware of any campaigns related to children's Congenital Heart Disease held by any organization?
It is obvious that there are not enough campaigns and organizations founded to help patients who are dealing with CHD in Malaysia because the majority of the test survey participants are saying ‘no’ when they were asked if they know any campaigns or organizations that are related to this disease. There was only one person who knew a campaign related to CHD which is The Donate Your Loose Change Campaign by AirAsia in collaboration with IJN Foundation.
8. Do you think it's important for the public to know more about Congenital Heart Disease in children?
Although CHD is a health issue, the number of people who does not care about this issue were also being counted as it is vital to know whether the issues is as important as any other health issues. Only 2 people said the issue was not important enough to be brought into the light. For the other 95.9% people who said ‘yes’, they were asked to lay down a brief reason for why the public need to know how important CHD is. These are their answers:
- Because it's important for the public to be aware of this disease. Prevention is better than cure.
- So people would be aware of it
- There's not many information on how to deal with such conditions
- Being aware helps to notice difference when seeing symptoms and signs of chd.
- because such information could be vital, thus there will be more helping hands invovle and such
- Dude, this is a disease, people die.
- for preparation and information
- Because it might help for early detection, and at the same time the knowledge can help in others to know whats up ahead, what to do if face in situation regarding the matter
- For the sake of health issue, people need to know

- Because it involves life, anything that involves life is important and should be publicized.

9. If a Congenital Heart Disease Awareness Campaign is to be held in the future, which is the best media that can be used to promote this campaign?
Diagram 6.1.9 exhibits the percentage of choices of media chosen by the survey participants with Social Networking Sites as the most popular media to promote the CHD campaign. It can be concluded that the most suitable media to be used to promote the awareness of CHD is throughSocial Networking Sites because it can reach most of the youth when they are online. One of the person surveyed also suggested to promote the campaign through this method:
- constant promotion. tv is good, but some people dont watch it, or even the radio. short movies in youtube might help.
10. What kind of information do you expect to find during the campaign?
Graph 6.1.10 describes the information that were voted according to the most important data that should be carried out during the campaign to raise more public knowledge about CHD. The most important data that should be stressed out is the cause of the disease.
Other survey participants suggested these information be spread out during the campaign:
- Free medication by government
- Why is it important to understand this type of heart disease
- How to prevent (prevent better than cure)
- How to prevent CHD
- The organizations that handles CHD; who should we contact/consult
- all of them
- The symptoms and sufferings of a patient of the disease
6.2 IKEA Brand Awareness Survey
There is no doubt that IKEA is already a well known brand. This survey aims to find out about people’s perception on IKEA Malaysia, focusing on and what they like and does not like about IKEA. The survey was done on 48 Malaysians online with ages ranging from 18 to 26 years old.
These are the questions asked to the 48 Malaysians:

6. Have you even shop/dine at IKEA?
IKEA Malaysia Store consists of a showroom, children’s playgorund, furniture pick up basement and a restaurant. 46 people out of 48 people that were asked said that they have been to IKEA either to shop or dine. This proves that most of the people in Malaysia knows about IKEA’s existence. Only 2 of the test subject have never been to IKEA.
7. What do you do when you are at IKEA?
IKEA offers variety of products and services. People who came by to IKEA does not necessarily want to buy any product afterall. 16 people stated that they only want to go for a munch at IKEA’s diner while 12 more just want to look around the showroom. The person who answereed “Others” stated that he or she likes Meatballs from the IKEA’s cafe’.
8. How do you found out about IKEA?
IKEA has been in Malaysia for almost 14 years now. It can be said that the person born from 1984 to 1992 that participated on this survey have lived their whole life growing with IKEA. 19 of them said that they knew IKEA from the words of mouth either from family or friends. The 2 people who chose “Others” specified that they went to IKEA ever since they were little and that who would have never heard of IKEA.
9. Which of these line of product from IKEA do you like?
Diagram 6.2.9 describes the percentage of the test subject’s most favourite line of products from IKEA. The bedroom product range appeals to them the most with the percentage of 38% followed by decoration and living room range with 21% and 13% percentage.
10. What do you like about IKEA?
There are so many reasons to like IKEA. Six main choices of why people would love IKEA were given to the survey participants. Majority of them like IKEA because of the modern style, look and feel of IKEA products. This proves that IKEA products are the best strength of the furniture company. One person said he or she likes the homely feeling of IKEA Store.
11. What don't you like about IKEA?
This question was asked to know the weaknesses of IKEA. 35 participants answered the query:
- Some things are a little too pricey
- The lemon and herb chicken at the cafe
- Massive crowd over the weeknd
- Nope. Nothing.
- It is super big, so kinda tiring when it comes to search for stuff. but, it is not like it is a big deal
- anyway.
- Pricey.
- Pricey.
- Being a trend
- The furniture is not durable
- The products don't usually last as long as they claimed to be, and at times they can feel rather cheap
- Some furnitures that aren't as sturdy as it looks.
- There's only one retail shop in the whole of malaysia and it is not an easy access for people who lives far from ikea.

Out of the six choices of furniture companies in Malaysia that were given for the participants to rate, IKEA still ranked in the number one spot, followed by XZQT and Fella Design.
